Prayer Answered

I asked for strength that I might achieve;

He made me weak that I might obey.

I asked for health that I might do greater things;

I was given grace that I might do better things.

I asked for riches that I might be happy;

I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;

I was given weakness that I might feel the need of

God.

I asked for all thing that I might enjoy life;

I was given life that I might enjoy all things.

I received nothing that I asked for, yet all that I

hoped for.

My prayer was answered.

Discouraged ? Dismayed ?

Purpose of Bible

John 20:31

God’s Army

By asking for Jesus to save you, you are automatically enrolling in God’s army, voluntarily.

God’s army has no re-enlisting because the position as God’s soldier is permanent.

For enlisting in His army, God provides you with certain items that are necessary to do battle against the enemy.

Helmet - Salvation

Sword of Spirit - word of God, the Bible

Shield - Faith

Loins girt with - Truth

Breastplate - Righteousness

Shoes - Preparation of the gospel of peace

If you are missing any part of this armor, you could be susceptible to the enemy.

If you do not have the helmet of Salvation, you will leave yourself defenseless against the enemy, without the helmet of Salvation, you have already lost the war.

How can you defend yourself against the bad things the enemy tries to put in front of you, or put up a fight if you do not know the Bible, your sword ?

How can you shield yourself from the enemy’s fiery darts if you do not have complete faith in God ?

How can you keep the enemy’s lies from you if you don’t keep the truth ?

How can you protect your heart without the breastplate of righteousness ? Not that we are righteous, but God gives us His righteousness to defend protect ourselves with. We wear God’s righteousness, because we have none of our own.

How can we go forward without being shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace ? We would stumble in confusion if we did not have God’s peace.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
